Students again blockaded secondary schools and universities across France on Thursday, Nov. 5, with protesters saying the government’s response had fallen short, France 24 reported.
EconoTimes previously reported that Les Lycéens! expected blockades at some French high schools to begin Nov. 2, with more activity expected from Tuesday.
Separately, France’s Ministry of National Education announced Oct. 26 a 28-student cap for general and technological seconde classes and a Parcoursup replacement for the 2028 admissions cycle. EconoTimes reported that the cap would begin at schools in the least advantaged half in 2027 and extend to all public high schools in 2028; the ministry also proposed 500 teacher positions for its 2027 budget, according to EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of the policy plan.
The Associated Press earlier reported that high school students had blocked schools as they sought more staff and better facilities.
