A France 24 tally says hoax bomb threats affected at least 27 flights across Europe through Nov. 5, while an EU commissioner said investigations had not established whether the incidents were linked.
The tally counts affected flights but does not show how many were diverted. In a separate report, France 24 described multiple emergency landings on Nov. 5. It also reported that threats earlier in the week prompted searches and diversions, with one flight receiving a military escort.
NDTV separately reported that more than a dozen flights were targeted on Nov. 5. The French Prime Minister’s Office said an Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome landed at the Evreux military air base in France after a bomb threat. NDTV reported that the office confirmed the 151 passengers and six crew members remained safe as bomb-disposal teams inspected the plane.
European Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas said the European Union had activated an aviation-security information-sharing mechanism. National investigations were continuing, he said, and it was “too early to draw conclusions” about whether the reported incidents were linked.
The developments follow EconoTimes’ earlier coverage of Nov. 5 threat reports and fighter escorts.
