Leora Shemesh, lawyer for Frank Stronach, told The Canadian Press that a prosecution involving one complainant had been withdrawn from the Newmarket case, where allegations involving five others remain ahead of a trial reported for next year.

The reported withdrawal has not been independently verified. The Canadian Press account cited no public withdrawal notice or statement from prosecutors and gave no reason for the decision. The outlet said court documents described the allegation as a sexual assault in York Region in 2024. No trial has addressed that allegation. Stronach has denied all allegations, the Canadian Press reported.

The Newmarket proceeding is distinct from Stronach’s Toronto case. An Ontario Superior Court judgment dated June 19, 2026, found him guilty of indecent assault and sexual assault. Later Canadian Press reporting said Justice Anne Molloy declared a mistrial after the sexual-assault verdict and that prosecutors appealed. The outlet also reported that Stronach is awaiting sentence for indecent assault and that Molloy ruled he would not receive jail time.

An April 22 Canadian Press report said the Newmarket jury trial was set to start in May 2027 and run for four weeks. It said pretrial motions, including a request to hold separate trials, were scheduled for January and March. A later account described the trial as scheduled for next year but did not specify a month.
