Two French broadcasters apologized after presenting protest footage from Tirana as scenes from Paris and Lyon, an error that surfaced as demonstrations unfolded across France.

A street protest clip that CNEWS labeled Porte d’Italie in Paris was filmed on Tirana’s Rruga e Durrësit, the Associated Press reported. CNEWS presenter Olivier Benkemoun later said, “We made a mistake in the control room,” and apologized on behalf of the newsroom.

In a separate franceinfo segment, officers moved along a Tirana street as two water-cannon trucks fired nearby. AP identified the location as Bulevardi Dëshmorët e Kombit. Franceinfo had introduced the footage as live from Lyon; its presenter corrected the location roughly three minutes later and apologized.

The Independent reported that the Paris march was the largest of close to 300 protests held across France over school funding and living costs, with combined attendance in the hundreds of thousands. The outlet also reported clashes between police and demonstrators after the Paris march, along with isolated violence in other cities and towns.

France’s Interior Ministry said Sunday that police made 1,314 arrests.
