Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said he would mobilize resources to find those responsible after a fire destroyed a police officer’s home in Auch, southwestern France, on Saturday.
Reuters reported that authorities believed the fire was deliberate. Nunez said the circumstances suggested it was connected to the officer’s profession.
Firefighters responded, but the home was destroyed, Nunez said. He pledged that those responsible would be brought to justice.
The French Interior Ministry counted 146,000 demonstrators nationwide, while unions estimated 250,000. Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu is due to discuss wages and purchasing power with union and employer groups Monday.
No explosives have been found in the reported incidents, and authorities have not identified the people behind the emails.
