French prosecutors confirmed that a Mirage 2000D crash near Nancy killed both crew members, with DNA analysis continuing as authorities work to identify the victims.

The Metz prosecutor’s office told BFMTV that evidence recovered at the site confirmed two deaths. The office said DNA analysis was underway to identify the victims. Authorities had earlier confirmed the pilot’s death, while search operations for the navigator were continuing.

The crash occurred on Oct. 20 in Meurthe-et-Moselle, near Nancy, Anadolu reported. Anadolu reported that the jet had been operating from Nancy-Ochey air base. Anadolu reported that the crash area included Rogeville, Tremblecourt and Domevre-en-Haye.

Henry Lemoine, mayor of nearby Pont-a-Mousson, said police and firefighters were deployed in large numbers. Anadolu reported that a drone located debris and Rogeville hosted a crisis coordination center; local authorities warned of possible traffic disruptions. Anadolu also reported that a judicial inquiry is underway.
