French industrial production output dropped sequentially in September. Following a 0.2 percent rise in the prior month, the industrial output fell 1.8 percent in September. Output in the manufacturing industry dropped sharply by 2.1 percent sequentially in the month after rising 0.4 percent in the prior month.
Over the last three months, manufacturing output rose 0.4 percent, while industry output rose 0.7 percent. On a quarterly basis, output rose solidly in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply, in the manufacture of transport equipment, in the manufacture of machinery and equipment goods and in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products. It rose slightly in “other manufacturing”. On the contrary, it dropped in the manufacture of food products and beverages.
On a year-on-year basis, manufacturing output rose 0.9 percent in the last quarter. The industrial output rose 0.8 percent. Within “other manufacturing”, the manufacturing of machinery and equipment goods rose 2.6 percent, while the manufacturing transport equipment rose 2.2 percent. On the contrary, it kept falling in the manufacture of food products and beverages. It was virtually stable in mining and quarrying, energy, water supply.
