‘Fuller House’ Season 5 Air Date, Cancellation, Spoilers: 18 Episodes Await in FINAL Installment; To be Released in 2 Parts?

Fans of the Fuller-Tanner-Gibbler crew faced a piece of bittersweet news recently. “Fuller House” season 5 is going to be the show’s final installment on Netflix. But on the plus side, the media services provider ordered 18 episodes to wrap up the show for good.

Netflix stayed silent on whether it is renewing or canceling the show for more than a month since the fourth season premiered last Dec. 14. But the news came in before January ended confirming there will be a “Fuller House” season 5 but that it is also the sitcom’s last stint.

The announcement came through a special promo video that fittingly referred to “Fuller House” season 5 as the “farewell season.” The one-minute long trailer compiled some of the most heartfelt events from the show including the birth of Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Jimmy’s (Adam Hagenbuch) baby with Kimmy (Andrea Barber) as their surrogate as well as D.J. (Candace Cameron Bure) and Steve’s (Scott Weinger) romance.

The “Fuller House” season 5 video announcement ends with clips from cast members promising fans that they are “saving the best for last.” And it appears to be the ongoing theme for the final installment. Bure shared the farewell season video on her Instagram page and told fans in the comments the news is bittersweet but she is happy they get to do 18 more episodes to “give the fans a proper ending.”

Before “Fuller House” season 5, the third season was the longest installment that also had an 18-episode run and had a two-part premiere in September and December 2017. It is still unclear if Netflix will apply the same strategy for “Fuller House” season 5, though, it is a big possibility.

Meanwhile, there is no word yet on when the fifth season’s production will begin. But it should start anytime soon as “Fuller House” season 5 will reportedly premiere sometime in fall.
