FxWirePro: NZD/USD gains some ground but outlook is still bearish

• NZD/USD firmed  on Wednesday  as investors awaited the release of US September inflation data for fresh clues on the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy outlook.

•  US headline CPI is expected to rise 0.6% month-on-month in September, accelerating from 0.4% in August, while annual inflation is forecast to increase to 3.6%.

• The inflation report could influence market expectations for the Fed’s next policy move, with futures markets currently pricing in a 23.8% probability of a rate hike at the October 28 meeting.

• Investors priced in a 22% chance of an October interest rate hike ahead of the CPI data, the CME FedWatch Tool showed.

•New York Federal Reserve President John Williams said the Fed may need to raise its policy rate once more this year to slow inflation, but that he sees no need for hikes in 2027.

•  Immediate resistance is located at 0.5648 (SMA 20), any close above will push the pair towards 0.5684(38.2%fib).

•  Support is seen at 0.5582 (23.6%fib) and break below could take the pair towards 0.5552 (Lower BB ).

Recommendation: Good to sell around 0.5630  with stop loss of 0.5700 and target price of 0.5550
