Abu Dhabi technology group G42 and Greek partners are exploring an AI factory alongside projects in municipal services, education and medical research, Gulf News reported. The agreements involve G42 and five of its companies and Greek public- and private-sector organizations. Gulf News said they were signed during an official UAE visit to Athens.
M42, G42’s healthcare company, and Athens LifeTech Park signed an agreement to examine potential cooperation in medical research and biotechnology. The proposed work would span cancer, rare genetic conditions, neuroscience and genomic research. The agreement also sets out opportunities for UAE healthcare startups in European markets and for Greek and European firms in the UAE.
Presight and Greece’s Ministry of Digital Governance will assess how AI could support urban management and public safety. Its work would assess municipal waste services and water-network monitoring, as well as transport safety and officials’ responses to urban problems.
Inception42 will examine AI support for government operations, including tracking priorities and assisting cabinet meetings. Education proposals include tutoring and learning platforms for students, alongside training to help government employees use AI.
A separate proposal with Greece’s Copelouzos Group would explore an AI factory combining data centers, cloud computing and AI technologies. The proposed facility would serve sectors including banking, telecommunications, shipping and government. The proposal assigns Khazna Data Centers the physical buildout and Core42 the cloud and computing capacity.
An earlier EconoTimes report on the proposed Greek AI factory said its site, capacity and cost had not been disclosed and no construction schedule or cost allocation had been announced.
G42 International CEO Mansoor Al Mansoori said the projects would follow European regulations and standards. G42 described the agreements as an initial step; the partners still need to settle each project’s scope and timetable, and implementation depends on further agreements and regulatory approvals.
