GAC introduced its E8 multipurpose vehicle in Macao on Oct. 30, pairing the launch with prices of up to HKD 369,800 as it expands its local lineup amid reported regional sales gains.
The vehicle appeared at the 16th China (Macau) International Automobile Exposition, which the official Macao events calendar schedules for Oct. 30-Nov. 1. GAC said the event opened at Cotai Expo in The Venetian Macao. The AION i60 and AION N60 also made their Macao debuts there.
GAC priced the E8 MAX at HKD 339,800 and the ULTRA at HKD 369,800. The company lists the vehicle’s pure-electric range at 281 kilometers and its CLTC combined range at 1,537 kilometers. GAC also states charge-sustaining fuel consumption can be as low as 3.98 liters per 100 kilometers. It is offering early buyers an HKD 6,000 discount.
GAC reported that Asia-Pacific retail sales increased 109% from a year earlier in the first three quarters. For September, it reported Portugal retail sales rose 34% from August and Brazil retail sales climbed 280% year over year.
The company also reported Macao sales were up 113% year over year for what it called “this year,” without giving a reporting cutoff. GAC says it plans to add service showrooms in Macao and views the territory as a gateway to Portuguese-speaking markets. It also says it has participated in the exposition for 16 consecutive years. The event is scheduled to close Nov. 1.
