“Game of Thrones” Season 7 recently released a big batch of photo stills, and boy, there’s a lot of team-ups to be expected in its return.
The most highly-anticipated team-up, of course, is between House Stark supporter Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) and wildling leader Tormund Giantsbane. Fans were first delighted of the couple that isn’t a couple when Tormund first set eyes on Brienne, of which the latter internally shuddered at the reaction. In the Season 6 finale, we last saw Brienne on a little boat, and bading goodbye to Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) as she heads to the North. Tormund, on the other hand, lends his support to Jon Snow (Kit Harington) back at Winterfell.
In the latest still photo, the two apparently reunited potentially at the North, with Tormund making googly eyes to Brienne. Although one can only see her back, she’ll probably make the same reaction she did in their first meeting.
Meanwhile, Littlefinger (Petyr Baelish) is seen standing alongside Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) while looking over the courtyard. The Hollywood Reporter posits that it can only mean that the two are in cohorts, essentially fulfilling Littlefinger’s dream of presiding Winterfell with Ned’s daughter by his side. As for Sansa, her partnership with Littlefinger could only mean pairing up with Littlefinger for the sake of her father’s estate and her siblings.
Moreover, Jaime standing beside “Mad Queen” sister Cersei (Lena Headey) might show that the Lannisters (at least two of them, anyway) are displaying a united front against those who threaten Cersei’s claim to the Iron Throne. However, Nerdist said that with Cersei murdering her children with her brother and the vicious means she has succumbed to for power, time will tell that it will be Jaime who will ultimately be the “family-killer.”
Watch the seventh season of “Game of Thrones,” which premieres on July 16 on HBO.
