Gaza’s Ministry of Education and Higher Education said Israeli attacks killed 22 children, students and education workers in October 2026, adding to disruptions to learning in parts of Gaza.

In its monthly report, the ministry said gunfire delayed or halted lessons in parts of southern Khan Younis, eastern Deir al-Balah, eastern Bureij and northern Gaza. It said crossing closures prevented students with overseas scholarships from traveling, while shortages of fuel and educational supplies hindered schools and universities.

The ministry counted 14 children and school students, ages 6 to 16, among those killed. It also reported the deaths of four teachers.

Three university employees were killed when their campus was struck during student hours, the ministry said. It separately recorded the death of a University of Palestine academic in a strike on an apartment.

The ministry called on the United Nations and other international bodies to protect students and education workers and help secure supplies needed to continue teaching.
