Germany’s federal police union warned state and federal officers would respond firmly to disorder at youth rallies planned in 21 cities for Oct. 31, with thousands expected, Deutsche Welle reported.

Andreas Roßkopf, who heads the GdP union at Germany’s Federal Police, told Rheinische Post Wednesday officers would answer trouble with a “firm and decisive” response. He warned radicals and extremists might mix with demonstrators to attack police or act destructively.

Deutsche Welle listed Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg and Munich among the planned locations. The issues include broken schools and austerity, living costs, social injustice, military conscription and climate change.

Gen Z regelt’s website says the group rejects violence against people and property. Police say they will protect the public’s right to assemble and speak freely.

EconoTimes previously covered the initiative’s call for demonstrations in 21 cities. The rallies are scheduled for Oct. 31.
