Global Geo-political Series: DPRK ready to negotiate if recognized as nuclear power - Russian delegation

The Russian delegation to Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) says that the isolated country is ready to sit down for talks with the international coalition for peace if it is recognized as a nuclear power. According to the delegation, North Korea claims that it is being forced to be aggressive and will not give up on nuclear power. According to Vitaly Pashin, a member of the delegation to North Korea, the isolated country is ready to sit down with Washington for talks but under parity terms and with the participation of Russia as a third party. According to Pashin, Pyongyang claims that it feels safe with ballistic missiles and nuclear weapons and it would never abandon its nuclear program. Pashin also claims that North Korea is prepared to hit the U.S. mainland with missiles and warheads at any moment.

Earlier this week, North Korea once again test-fired a ballistic missile that reached an altitude of 4,475 km and traveled around 1,000 km before plunging into the Sea of Japan. DPRK claimed that the missile is a new type of ICBM, Hwasong-15 that is capable of hitting U.S. mainland. While the United States and its allies described Pyongyang’s missile program as a menace, North claims that it is solely for the purpose of protecting the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
