Global Geopolitical Series: Israel and Iran continues harsh rhetoric now involving nuclear weapons

The warlike rhetoric between Israel and Iran continues to dominate the Middle Eastern politics. After reports came out suggesting that Iran is moving missiles to Iraq, which brings Israel in its target range and its top Iranian leaders keeping on calling for the destruction of Israel, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded by warning that those who plan to wipe out Israel faces the same risk, while he was attending ceremony to rename a complex that is alleged to possess nuclear weapons.

Iran has hit back at Netanyahu comments, which were allegedly made while standing close to a nuclear reactor calling the nation a warmonger. Iran’s foreign minister Javad Zarif tweeted, “Iran, a country without nuclear weapons, is threatened with atomic annihilation by a warmonger standing next to an actual nuclear weapons factory. Beyond shameless in the gall.” He further added, “As the world marks Int’l Day against Nuclear Tests, let’s remember that only nuclear bombs in our region belong to Israel and the US; the former a habitual aggressor & the latter the sole user of nukes. Let’s also remember that Iran has called for Nuclear Weapon Free Zone since 1974.”
