The GoPro Hero 8 is expected to drop sometime in September as new iterations of the action camera have been released during this month. However, even though September is closing in quick, the San Mateo-based company has yet to offer any information about the eight entry.
Thus, most of the specs touted to include in the GoPro Hero 8 are coming from speculations. The most likely of this is the return of yet another three iterations that will be priced at different tiers and will have their performance reflecting their costs, Trusted Reviews reported.
Wading into speculative territories, some are hoping that the emergence of the DJI Osmo Action will force the company to lower the price of the GoPro Hero 8 to more competitive levels. A $349 is looking like the RRP of the upcoming variant given that the Osmo Action and Hero 7 is hovering at this price mark.
Of course, if the company manages to outfit the GoPro Hero 8 with jaw-dropping hardware and software, then a higher price should be expected. But again, the price will likely stay within the proximal range of the abovementioned figure.
With regards to the design, it’s unlikely that the GoPro Hero 8 will undergo drastic change on this front as its look is pretty much its identity at this point. As such, most of the upgrade will likely be focused under its hood and the software that is running it.
An improved mic, 4K at 60 fps, and low light stabilization would provide the GoPro Hero 8 a much-needed upgrade to really pull away from its competition. What’s more, bringing back the video + photo capture feature would add more allure to the device as it’s been heavily requested by users following its disappearance when the Hero 6 came out. Of course, most of these are wishful thinking at this point as the company has yet to break their silence about what they’re planning for the GoPro Hero 8.
