Google announced today new updates to Android Marshmallow’s Now on Tap feature to help users “during the holiday season and year round.” The updates include getting information on flight status, package tracking, links to related articles and support for six more languages.
If a user receives a text message with a flight number, all he needs to do is tap and hold the phone’s home button to get info on flight status without a separate search, further enabling a quick reply. Similarly, the tracking information of packages can be easily obtained by tapping and holding on the confirmation email. While surfing news, users need to tap and hold to get links to related articles.
“You’ll now see a share icon when you use Now on Tap to easily share what’s on your screen, without having to leave what you’re doing”, said Aneto Okonkwo, Product Manager at Google in an online post. “You should start seeing all these features over the coming days.”
Moreover, other than English, Now on Tap now supports French, German, Spanish, Italian, Russian and Korean languages and Okonkwo said that new languages and features will be added soon.
Google launched Now on Tap alongside Android Marshmallow in October. It enables quick searching for additional information within apps through holding the Home button, Venture Beat reported.
