Google Chromecast was launched in 2013 and it was a huge hit. Although Google has been making it better by introducing new features over the past few years, the real upgrade was yet to come. And the wait was finally over when at the Google Nexus event, the search engine giant introduced two new Chromecasts for television and audio, Gizmodo reports.
Chromecast 2.0
Firstly, with the HDMI cable built-in this time, it is easier to plug into the television and then any device on the network can be used to remotely control it, PCAdvisor UK reported.
Basically, it is a wireless alternative that connects phone/table to a TV via HDMI cable. It has no user interface of its own as it operates via the newly upgraded Chromecast app. It allows users to display almost anything on their mobile device's screen on the TV or monitor.
“What we were able to do was build a product that is extremely focused on delivering that quality and performance from the cloud. Build the construct where apps could communicate with it. Apps wherever users are. There is a way to reach all users through SDKs. That was the foundation. For 2 years we’ve bene building that out”, Micah Collins, senior product manager of Chromecast, told Techcrunch.
Chromecast Audio
It is a small dongle that only takes care of audio and plugs into a speaker rather than a TV, PCAdvisor UK reported. It has high-quality capabilities, 2 watt RMS, optional optical digital out in its hybrid port and plugs into any home speaker using an AUX cable.
Using the new Chromecast Audio is just as simple as Chromecast – one has to simply plug it into power, connect to a wireless network, and start casting.
