Greece’s consumer prices fall 1 pct year-on-year in September

Consumer price index in Greece dropped 1 percent year-on-year in September 2016, indicating a drop in protracted recession and house prices. According to Hellenic Statistical Authority or the Elstat, the country’s CPI inflation in sequential terms rose 1.8 percent. In the 12-month period from October 2015 to September 2016, compared with period from October 2014 to September 2015, the annual average pace of change of the CPI was -0.9 percent.

Meanwhile, the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices dropped 0.1 percent year-on-year, showed Elstat. On sequential basis, the HICP inflation rose 0.7 percent in September. In the 12-month period from October 2015 to September 2016 compared with the period from October 2014 to September 2015 the annual average rate of change of the HICP remained unchanged, stated Elstat.
