Guide to today’s important data and events

Lots of economic dockets scheduled for today and some with high risks associated. Focus is on ECB today.

Data released so far

  • Australia - HIA new home sales dropped -3% in October. Trade balance for October came at -3.3 billion, with exports falling by 3%, while import is at same level.
  • Japan - Services PMI came at 51.6 in November, down from 52.2 prior.
  • China - Caixin China services PMI for November came at 51.2, down from 52 prior.

Upcoming 

  • France - ILO unemployment for third quarter to be released at 6:30 GMT, followed by services PMI at 8:50 GMT.
  • UK - Halifax house prices to be released at 8:00 GMT, followed by services PMI at 9:30 GMT.
  • Spain - Services PMI to be released at 8:15 GMT.
  • Italy - Services PMI scheduled at8:45 GMT.
  • Germany - Services PMI to be released at 8:55 GMT.
  • Euro zone - Services PMI to be released at 9:00 GMT, followed by retail sales for October at 10:00 GMT. ECB will announce interest rate decision at 12:45 GMT, followed by press conference at 13:30 GMT.
  • US - Weekly initial jobless claims to be released at 13:30 GMT, followed by Markit services PMI at 14:45 GMT and ISM non-mfg. PMI at 15:00 GMT, along with factory orders. EIA will release Natural gas inventory at 15:30 GMT. FED chair Yellen is scheduled to testify beginning at 15:00 GMT, while vice chair Stanley Fischer will speak around 18:00 GMT.
