UN Secretary-General António Guterres and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto discussed multilateral reform and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development on Oct. 18 as Indonesia sought stronger dialogue with the UN.

The meeting took place at Prabowo’s residence in Hambalang, West Java, with delegations from both sides attending, Indonesia’s Cabinet Secretariat said. The secretariat described the visit as an effort to strengthen Indonesia’s dialogue and cooperation with the UN.

The UN said the leaders also addressed the Occupied Palestinian Territory and other regional and global issues. Guterres thanked Indonesia for its contributions to UN peacekeeping and expressed appreciation for its leadership on climate action and development financing.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said Guterres commended Indonesia’s steps to assist Palestinians.

The leaders had discussed multilateral reform, development goals and the Middle East at a Sept. 22, 2025, meeting in New York, according to the UN’s account of those talks.
