Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited returned to consolidated quarterly profit for July-September, but a first-quarter loss left its April-September result in the red as year-over-year Q2 profit declined.
For the three months ended Sept. 30, 2026, HPCL recorded unaudited consolidated net profit of ₹3,625.22 crore (₹36.25 billion), down 6.1% from ₹3,859.30 crore a year earlier. Revenue from operations rose 26.1% to ₹1,39,140.3 crore (₹1.39 trillion). The company’s standalone Q2 net profit was ₹3,482.62 crore, a decline of about 9% year over year.
The second-quarter profit followed a consolidated loss of ₹12,264.67 crore in Q1 FY27. For April-September, HPCL reported a consolidated loss of ₹8,639.45 crore, compared with a profit of ₹7,970.23 crore in the same period a year earlier.
Operating figures were stronger in Q2. HPCL’s gross refining margin before export cess reached $32.15 per barrel, compared with $8.80 a year earlier. Its refineries processed 6.20 million metric tonnes of crude oil at full combined capacity. Sales, including exports, totaled 12.73 million tonnes, up 5.5% year over year.
For April-September, HPCL said profitability was affected by “suppressed marketing margins” on certain petroleum products. The filing gives that explanation for the six-month period.
HPCL reported capital expenditure of ₹2,085 crore in Q2 and ₹3,819 crore in the first half. The company said it commissioned a blue hydrogen unit at its Visakh refinery. It also reported mechanical completion of a 201-kilometer liquefied petroleum gas pipeline from Haldia to Panagarh; the pipeline was in pre-commissioning.
