Hana Sherif's family is asking authorities to determine what happened before the 12-year-old fell to her death from a school building in Ismailia Governorate, Al Raees News reported.

Sherif was in her first year of preparatory school in western Ismailia. She fell from the fourth floor during the school day.

Her mother said the family received a call saying Sherif had been taken to a hospital. They learned afterward that she had died, Gulf News reported.

Sherif's father alleged that she had filmed a teacher mistreating a pupil and that an argument followed. He questioned whether the teacher pushed or frightened his daughter. The alleged filming and any connection between the teacher and the fall remain unverified. No official finding has established how Sherif fell.

A relative quoted by Gulf News said the family requested surveillance footage and was told the school's cameras were not working. The cameras' condition has not been verified. The family wants authorities to review the available evidence and interview witnesses.
