Kungiyar Hausa Nigeria National Chairman Abdullahi Abdullahi congratulated Accord Party’s 2027 presidential candidate, Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, after a court ruling, without announcing the organization’s endorsement, BusinessDay reported.

The outlet said the ruling affirmed Olawepo-Hashim’s candidacy and that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) platform listed him as Accord Party’s nominee for the 2027 presidential election.

In a message shared on social media, Abdullahi linked the legal result to Nigeria’s democratic process and commended Olawepo-Hashim for expressing confidence in the country’s courts, BusinessDay reported. He also said he hoped the outcome would encourage unity and constructive public service.

BusinessDay reported that Hausa Zallah leaders had visited Hashim in Abuja recently and that the engagement was later shared online. The outlet also described online campaigning by Hausa-speaking activists, which it said brought the candidacy to the attention of some members of that digital community.

The report said Abdullahi’s message did not declare Hashim the organization’s preferred candidate. It did not establish whether he was speaking personally or on behalf of Hausa Zallah. BusinessDay placed the developments in the run-up to the 2027 presidential election, as parties and prospective candidates position themselves.
