‘High School Musical 4’ News: Filming Schedule and Location Revealed; Original Cast Rumored to Appear as Guests

“High School Musical 4” is set to return and this has already been confirmed by Disney. This is really good news because fans have been waiting for this for so long. Their only wish now is that the installment will be released soon.

The “High School Musical 4” renewal was actually announced a few years back and progress was becoming evident lately with the reveal of some details like the cast and plot. On its renewal, The Hollywood Reporter quoted Disney’s president Gary Marsh as saying, "High School Musical is part of Disney Channel's DNA. It embodies all that we stand for.”

He went on to say, “As a way of continuing to embrace that heritage, we're excited to announce 'the start of something new' as we launch a search for a new class of East High Wildcats to star in a fourth installment of the 'High School Musical' franchise.”

At any rate, the “High School Musical 4” will officially begin filming in the fall of 2020 but pre-production works have already begun since last year. The shoot location was also divulged recently and according to The Knight Crier, the fourth HSM sequel would be filmed at the North Penn High School (NPHS).

It was said that the school administration found it difficult to keep the “High School Musical 4” filming in their school a secret but they are excited for the opportunity to be featured in such a popular Hollywood project. “This is so exciting for NPHS and the district! We have a long and distinguished tradition in the arts and drama and now, to have the honor of forever being connected to a musical about high school and it’s just amazing,” NPHS principal, Mr. Pete Nicholson said.

At any rate, although the original cast is not starring in the “High School Musical 4” in the leading roles, they will still appear as guest stars. It was mentioned that Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Evans, Corbin Bleu, Lucas Grabeel and Bart Johnson as Coach Bolton are all taking part in “HSM 4” and expected to appear at some point in the musical drama.

Meanwhile, ahead of the “High School Musical 4” filming, Disney introduced the new cast lineup and they are Joshua Bassett (Ricky), Olivia Rodrigo(Nini), Matt Cornett (E.J.), Dara Reneé (Kourtney), Sofia Wylie (Gina), Frankie Rodriguez (Carlos) and Larry Saperstein as Big Red. the cast may be new but it will retail its screenwriter and songwriting and producing teams. Jeffrey Hornaday will direct the “HSM 4.”
