Hindustan Times reported that Texas Democratic U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico prepared a masala dosa at an Irving restaurant Thursday, Oct. 29, during a campaign stop five days before Election Day.
Hindustan Times said video shared by ABC affiliate WFAA showed Talarico at Madira N Masala. The outlet reported that he spread batter, added potatoes, then folded and plated the dosa as onlookers cheered.
Talarico also discussed diversity and immigration reform during the visit, the outlet said. “We need a senator who celebrates our diversity rather than weaponizes it,” Hindustan Times quoted him as saying. The outlet also quoted Talarico saying, “We know that our diversity is our strength.”
His campaign website lists immigration and border security among its issues.
The Texas Secretary of State’s 2026 ballot certification lists Talarico as the Democratic candidate and Texas Attorney General and Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton as the Republican candidate. Inside Elections’ rating history lists the race as a Toss-up on Oct. 15, which EconoTimes discussed in an earlier race analysis.
The Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center’s event listing showed a separate Talarico rally scheduled in Dallas on Oct. 29, titled “Clear Eyes, Full Hearts Tour Rally with James Talarico.” The general election is scheduled for Nov. 3.
