The Independent said authorities put the toll at five dead and 16 wounded after a Houthi missile and drone attack on Aden’s Al-Maashiq palace compound, a site used by Yemen’s internationally recognized government.

Health Minister Qasim Buhaibeh said guards and civilian employees were among those caught in the attack. Information Minister Moammar al-Eryani said neither the prime minister nor cabinet members were injured.

Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesperson, said the group had struck what he called a Saudi military operations headquarters in Aden. Saree said the strike was part of what he described as the Houthis’ targeting of Saudi reinforcements. The Houthi-run SABA news agency claimed Saudi officers operated the site and weapons depots were located there. The Independent said it could not verify those claims.

The Independent also reported that government forces began an offensive last week to regain territory controlled by the Houthis. The Houthis had also claimed responsibility for a strike on Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport, saying it was retaliation for Saudi action in Yemen, as EconoTimes previously reported.
