Yemen’s Houthi movement said it launched seven operations against Saudi oil and aviation sites on Oct. 24, while Saudi-led forces reported intercepting missiles aimed at Riyadh, Taif and Yanbu.
A Houthi military statement published by Yemen News Agency (SABA) said the Yemeni Armed Forces used ballistic missiles and drones. SABA published the statement at 12:02 p.m. ET (16:02 UTC) on Oct. 24.
The statement also named oil-pumping stations and a crude pipeline running east-west, along with a Saudi Aramco facility in Yanbu and the Rabigh oil refinery. It also named King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, Najran Airport and Khamis Mushait Air Base.
The Houthis claimed direct hits and said an operation against King Fahd International Airport disrupted air traffic. Those claims of damage and disruption were unverified; the coalition statements reported missile interceptions but did not confirm impacts at the named sites.
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Malki said Saudi-led forces brought down a ballistic missile bound for Riyadh. A separate coalition notice reported the destruction of two additional ballistic missiles traveling toward Taif and Yanbu.
The Houthi statement presented the operations as retaliation for Saudi military action in Yemen. It alleged 100 airstrikes in the previous 24 hours and 3,123 airstrikes and missile attacks since the escalation began; neither figure was independently verified.
The announcement followed the group’s Oct. 19 claim of six missile and drone operations against Saudi oil and aviation sites over the preceding 48 hours. That earlier statement also described the campaign as retaliation for Saudi military action in Yemen and named locations in Yanbu, Shaybah, Riyadh and Abha.
