Hyundai Oilbank has been transforming its gas stations into lifestyle platforms that provide various customer experiences, from dining and selling an ultra-small electric vehicle to art exhibits.
The company launched a partnership with Makespace in 2019 by building a warehouse at its petrol stations where patrons may store their winter gear or camping supplies.
Retailers can use Hyundai Oilbank's warehouse to temporarily store their goods, while the nearby sandwich chain New York Hotdog and Coffee opened a restaurant there selling refreshments to customers.
The refiner launched a public parking lot service leveraging the Internet of Things (IoT) in collaboration with Hancome Mobility last year. It also started a 5G repeater company in collaboration with LG Uplus and KT.
In addition, the company diversified its car-washing service for customers while introducing car-wash coupons for the first time among refiners.
A very compact electric vehicle known as the "Sevo C" is now being sold by Hyundai Oilbank at five of its gas stations that are directly handled by the corporate headquarters in association with Sevo Mobility. The Sevo C can carry up to two people at once and has a top speed of roughly 75 kilometers per hour when completely charged. In the domestic ultra-small passenger car market, it is the leading model. The electric vehicle is available for test drives at the gas stations.
This month, the refiner installed an external LED display screen on the wall of one of its petrol stations in Sadang-dong, Seoul, turning it into a digital art gallery. There were about 100 works of art on display from Hyundai Oilbank over the course of a month.
A Hyundai Oilbank official said that they started this service with the hope that their gas stations will turn into a futuristic platform, where people can come wash their cars, enjoy art works and drive new vehicles.
