Nvidia announced Thursday that it will collaborate with several Australian data center and cloud computing companies to significantly expand artificial intelligence infrastructure across the country over the next few years.
The AI chip giant will work with Australian partners including Firmus, Sharon AI, IREN, ResetData, Megaport, CDC, NextDC and AirTrunk. The companies will use Nvidia’s DSX platform to develop additional data center infrastructure capable of supporting growing demand for AI computing.
Nvidia said the initiative aims to establish approximately 2 gigawatts of computing capacity in Australia by 2027. Financial details surrounding the partnerships were not immediately disclosed.
The expansion is designed to provide Australian businesses, developers and technology companies with greater access to the computing resources required to build advanced AI models, applications and autonomous agents. Nvidia also expects the infrastructure investments to encourage additional power generation projects as demand for AI computing continues to rise.
“Expanding capacity in Australia will enable local innovators to develop models, applications and agents while supporting additional power generation projects to support regional and global demand for AI compute,” Nvidia said.
The latest partnerships expand Nvidia’s existing involvement in Australian AI infrastructure, where several companies connected to its ecosystem are already developing large-scale data centers.
Australia is emerging as another important market in the global race to increase AI computing capacity. Data center operators worldwide have accelerated investment as companies require increasingly powerful infrastructure to train and operate artificial intelligence models.
Nvidia has repeatedly highlighted the need for additional data center capacity worldwide to accommodate the rapid growth of AI workloads. The company dominates the market for advanced AI processors, making its technology a key component of infrastructure being developed by cloud providers, technology companies and data center operators.
The planned 2GW expansion further strengthens Nvidia’s presence in Australia while supporting the country's efforts to develop domestic AI computing infrastructure and meet rising regional demand for high-performance computing.
