FXStreet’s converted reference and Paytm’s 24-karat quote both fell in India Thursday, while other published local rates were higher, highlighting how different measures can produce sharply varied gold prices.

FXStreet put its reference at ₹12,407.10 per gram at 12:35 a.m. ET (04:35 UTC), down from ₹12,561.63 on Wednesday. Paytm’s page listed 24-karat gold at ₹14,829.49 per gram for Oct. 22, a 0.66% decline from the previous day. Moneycontrol’s Mumbai table listed 24-karat gold at ₹142,930 per 10 grams and 22-karat gold at ₹130,920 per 10 grams. The figures use different measures and are not directly comparable.

FXStreet said its reference uses international gold prices converted through the USD/INR exchange rate and adjusted to local units. The page does not assign a karat grade to the estimate and cautions that local prices can vary.

Moneycontrol put the Dec. 4 MCX contract at ₹144,621 per 10 grams, a 1% decline. Its article body put spot gold at $4,093 per troy ounce, down 1.13%, at 11:39 p.m. ET Wednesday (03:39 UTC Thursday). The outlet’s untimed summary also cited about $4,124 per troy ounce, down 0.43%.

“The overall trend remains weak amid a stronger rupee and concerns over elevated crude oil prices feeding inflationary pressures,” Jateen Trivedi, VP Research Analyst at LKP Securities, told Moneycontrol.

Reuters reported a fourth consecutive session of spot-gold losses Wednesday. The next Federal Reserve policy meeting is scheduled for Oct. 27-28, Reuters reported.
