The National Stock Exchange of India Limited (NSE), BSE Limited (BSE) and Multi Commodity Exchange of India Limited (MCX) will hold Diwali sessions Sunday, Nov. 8, including 70 minutes of continuous trading for non-CAS securities.
Angel One identifies the exchanges’ clock times as Indian Standard Time (IST). Converted from IST, the main equity window runs from 3:50 a.m. to 5 a.m. ET Sunday. The NSE circular sets those hours; a reproduction of BSE’s notice lists the same window.
Before continuous trading, a block-deal window is scheduled from 3:20 to 3:35 a.m. ET. Pre-open order entry runs from 3:35 to 3:45 a.m. Market and limit orders are accepted for the first five minutes, then only limit orders can be entered. Matching ends at 3:47 a.m., leaving a three-minute buffer before the main session.
Continuous trading for shares eligible for the Closing Auction Session (CAS) ends at 4:45 a.m. ET, 15 minutes before non-CAS trading closes. The auction accepts orders from 4:50 to 5 a.m., with matching through 5:05 a.m. ET.
MCX sets its main window for commodities and indices from 3:50 to 5 a.m. ET. It schedules a separate session from 3:35 to 3:49 a.m. and allows client-code modifications through 5:15 a.m. ET. The exchange says contracts for all commodities and indices will be available during the Muhurat session.
The NSE circular says completed trades from its window remain subject to settlement. The NSE calendar marks Nov. 8 for Diwali Laxmi Pujan and Nov. 10 for Diwali-Balipratipada. EconoTimes previously reported the Nov. 8 session date before the exchanges announced detailed hours.
