Abdul Majid Hakeem Elahi, an Iranian diplomat, said 168 children died in the Feb. 28 Minab school strike and that a United Nations (U.N.) investigation report listed 125, NDTV reported.

Elahi made the remarks at the NDTV World Summit on Saturday and said the primary school was hit twice. He said some parents had no grave at which to mourn because some children’s bodies remained missing.

Elahi said the United States had not apologized for the attack. He recalled that families brought books and notebooks on Oct. 1, the start of Iran’s academic year, for children who had been killed.

In earlier EconoTimes coverage of the Minab strike, EconoTimes reported Oct. 23 that retired U.S. Army Gen. David Petraeus believed AI assisted targeting while a human made the final decision. That report said the Pentagon had not published its investigation findings as of Oct. 23.
