Turnout in Israel’s national election reached a record 55.7% nine hours after polls opened Tuesday, as voters chose a parliament whose composition will shape coalition negotiations and the next government.
Israel’s Central Elections Committee reported turnout of 55.7% nine hours after polls opened, Anadolu reported.
Anadolu also reported that more than 4.08 million voters had cast ballots by that checkpoint, citing figures released earlier by the committee. Turnout stood at 16.7% after the first four hours of voting, according to EconoTimes’ earlier report.
The election is for the 120-seat Knesset, and the vote will shape negotiations among parties seeking to form a government. The committee’s timetable lists Nov. 4 for publication of official results.
