Israelis vote Tuesday in a national election FRANCE 24 described as a test of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s standing, while an Oct. 14 poll projected both main blocs short of a Knesset majority.

The Central Elections Committee lists Oct. 27 as election day. The Knesset says voters choose party lists for its 120 seats. A governing coalition needs at least 61 of the Knesset’s 120 seats for a majority.

The Oct. 14 Madad poll projected both main blocs below that threshold and Arab-led parties to win 15 seats. EconoTimes previously covered the poll’s projections; the figures are survey estimates, not election results.

FRANCE 24 reported that this is Israel’s first national election since the Hamas attack of Oct. 7, 2023. The outlet’s Jerusalem correspondent Noga Tarnopolsky reported Monday that Netanyahu disputed war-crimes claims linked to the International Criminal Court (ICC) and rejected corruption accusations.

The Central Elections Committee has scheduled publication of official results for Nov. 4.
