A reported six-month beta of 1.6872 for JSW Steel lacks the benchmark and calculation details needed to interpret the figure, while the same number has appeared in earlier Economic Times updates.

The Economic Times reported the reading in a Nov. 2 liveblog and described the stock as more sensitive to market moves. The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) explains that beta compares an asset’s historical price movements with a selected benchmark, so the benchmark affects what the reading conveys. The liveblog did not identify its benchmark or calculation method. It later listed a last traded price of ₹1,258.90 per share.

The 1.6872 figure also appeared in Economic Times liveblogs dated Sept. 9, 2026, and Nov. 28, 2023. Those entries came from the same outlet and do not independently confirm the calculation.

The liveblog’s prior-session summary paired ₹1,255.40 with a 0.75% decline and volume of 2,258,404 shares. National Stock Exchange of India data lists ₹1,255.40 as the previous close before JSW Steel closed at ₹1,246, down ₹9.40, or 0.75%. Stock Analysis’ historical data identifies ₹1,246 as the Oct. 30 close and places the ₹1,255.40 close and 2,258,404-share volume on Oct. 29. The summary therefore combines figures from two trading sessions.
