Engaged couple Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez are reportedly hoping to add more member to their family. The singer-actress and former pro baseball star are rumored to adopt a child from Puerto Rico soon.
The rumors of Lopez and Rodriguez’s supposed adoption plans came from the NW tabloid (via Gossip Cop). “Jen wants them to have a child of their own and doesn’t like leaving things to chance. She’s aware that at her age [49] it could take years of IVF,” the publication’s source said. “She feels like they’re in a position to help a child in need and wants to adopt from Puerto Rico, where she has family.”
Puerto Rico was devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017, and its aftermath is still being experienced by the locals even to this day. Many celebrities and personalities came up with various ways to help including Lopez and Rodriguez. Immediately after the catastrophe took place, it was reported that the couple was able to raise over $26 million in donations for the relief and recovery efforts through the “One Voice: Somos Live! A Concert for Disaster Relief” benefit event they organized. The “Maid in Manhattan” star was born and raised in New York, but her parents were originally from Puerto Rico.
All these details might have contributed to the rumor that Lopez and Rodriguez are planning to adopt a Puerto Rican child. However, Gossip Cop reached out to another source close to the singer-actress who ultimately denied NW’s report.
Lopez and Rodriguez each have two children from previous marriages. Fans can easily find many photos and videos in their social media pages that show they all have been celebrating important holidays together like one big happy family.
Rodriguez proposed to Lopez in March, but there are no reported wedding details yet. Last month, Lopez revealed that they have not started planning their wedding yet. “You know, we just got engaged! Then right afterwards we started working right away, and we’re working the rest of the year, so I don’t know what’s going to happen,” she said in WKTU’s “Cubby & Carolina In the Morning” (via PEOPLE).
