Jordan’s Public Security Directorate (PSD) said a suspect was arrested after a Thursday stabbing in Amman killed one security officer and wounded another, with initial findings pointing to a planned attack on public security personnel.
The directorate said preliminary findings indicated the attacker intended to target public security personnel. It described the suspected plan as a “terrorist attack.”
The PSD said all three men were wounded in the dawn operation; Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya identified them as responsible for the attack.
Health Minister Ibrahim Bdour said 27 patients remained under care in an Oct. 24 morning update; Petra later reported that one of two critical patients died.
The ministry also expressed sympathy to the victims’ families and Jordan. The Public Security Directorate reported 34 injuries.
