Three men were detained Monday after an exchange of fire in Karak in a case tied to Friday’s fatal shooting at a church in Hammoud, Jordan’s Public Security Directorate (PSD) said.

The PSD said all three were wounded and subdued during the dawn operation. The directorate reported no injuries among its security personnel.

Interior Minister Mazen Al-Faraya identified the men as responsible for the attack in a phone interview with Al-Mamlaka, Jordan’s state broadcaster, CBS News and The Associated Press reported.

Gunfire at a Friday funeral in Hammoud’s Greek Orthodox church killed nine people, CBS News and The Associated Press reported. The PSD had previously reported 34 injuries and said one injured person died Oct. 24, an update covered in EconoTimes’ earlier report.

No group had claimed responsibility, CBS News and The Associated Press reported. Reuters reported that the PSD had not named the men or cited possible links to militant groups.
