KB Kookmin Bank raised the number of people affected by a cyberattack to 2,210 on Monday, widening the known exposure of customer and employee information after a review of the affected system.
The bank had confirmed 119 affected people on Oct. 2. Of the 2,091 people added to the tally, 1,631 are customers and 460 are executives and employees.
For the original 119 people, the bank previously identified names, phone numbers and addresses among the leaked information.
KB Kookmin attributed the higher count to a further examination of records and procedures linked to the system targeted in the earlier attack. It said no additional attack had occurred.
Yonhap reported that KB Kookmin was among more than a dozen financial institutions affected by hacking incidents in early October. The bank apologized for failing to establish the full extent of the exposure sooner and said it would work to prevent another incident and protect customers.
