Democratic challenger Adam Hamilton and Republican Sen. Roger Marshall urged supporters to mobilize in Kansas on Tuesday, Al Jazeera reported, ahead of a Senate vote that could end a decadeslong Democratic drought.

Hamilton, a Christian pastor, faces Marshall, a physician. Kansas has not elected a Democrat to the U.S. Senate since 1932, CNN reported.

A CNN poll conducted by SSRS found that 49% of likely voters supported Hamilton and 45% backed Marshall. CNN said the difference was within the survey’s margin of error, leaving no clear leader. The findings were previously covered in EconoTimes’ report on Senate polling in Kansas and Texas.

President Donald Trump sought to energize Republican voters at an Oct. 19 rally for GOP candidates in Kansas, The Associated Press reported.

Tuesday’s election will determine whether Marshall retains his seat or Hamilton ends Kansas’ long wait for a Democratic Senate victory.
