Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) shares reached KSh 13.80, up about 53% from KSh 9.02, after Dangote Group President and Chief Executive Officer Aliko Dangote said his company had bought a 24.76% stake, BusinessDay reported.
BusinessDay said the shares ended Oct. 27 at KSh 12.55, following a 9.1% gain during that session. The outlet linked the broader rise to investor expectations that Dangote Group’s involvement could bring more capital and operating expertise to the fuel network.
The Nairobi Securities Exchange’s daily-trades disclosure listed an Oct. 19 transaction involving 4.5 billion KPC shares, valued at KSh 42.5 billion (about $327 million). Dangote made his announcement at a London event on Oct. 21; EconoTimes previously covered his confirmation of the purchase.
BusinessDay reported that Dangote Group is now KPC’s second-largest shareholder. The outlet put the Kenyan government’s holding at 35%, retained after an initial public offering earlier in 2026, and Uganda National Oil Company’s at 20.15%.
KPC says its pipeline system moves petroleum products from Mombasa to inland markets. The company lists 1,342 kilometers of pipeline and annual capacity of about 14 billion liters.
Separately, the Financial Times reported that Dangote plans to invest $1.5 billion to expand the network, a proposal covered in an earlier EconoTimes report. BusinessDay said investors will look for follow-through in infrastructure and distribution projects after the stake purchase.
