At a Pyongyang gathering of company commanders, Kim Jong-un tied unit training to the North Korean military’s party identity and ideological character, state news agency KCNA reported.

Kim supervised the Korean People’s Army’s Third Meeting of Company Leaders on Oct. 22-23. KCNA said he connected training at the company level with carrying out a Korean-style military revolution, calling for “strongest companies” as part of the effort to build the “strongest army.”

The agency said Kim urged company commanders to uphold the military’s identity as the army of the Workers’ Party of Korea. It quoted him describing the force as an “army of ideology and core elements.”

KCNA described the meeting as the first gathering of the entire North Korean military since the Ninth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea. EconoTimes previously covered Kim’s call for company commanders to prepare their units for a military buildup goal.
