The Los Angeles Kings beat the New York Rangers 6-3 at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 26, with Drew Doughty contributing a goal and two assists, ESPN reported.

Los Angeles finished the night with a 3-5-2 record, while New York stood at 7-6-1. Calgary beat Toronto 5-2 for its fourth straight win, and Detroit defeated Edmonton 4-3 in a shootout.

Artemi Panarin added a power-play goal and an assist for the Kings. A power play gives a team a numerical advantage following an opponent's penalty.

Doughty's goal and two assists gave him three points in the victory. The Kings scored six goals against a Rangers side that entered the game with seven wins.

Both players contributed through goals of their own and assists on goals scored by teammates. The power-play contribution came with an opposing player serving a penalty, giving the visitors more players on the ice than the home side during that advantage.

The game drew 18,006 spectators at Madison Square Garden, according to ESPN's scoreboard.

Matvei Gridin scored twice for Calgary in its 5-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Flames played before an attendance of 18,476 on Oct. 26.

Calgary's fourth consecutive victory took its record to 5-6-0. Toronto finished the night at 7-5-2 after losing by three goals.

Gridin accounted for two of Calgary's five goals. The Flames matched the Kings' three-goal winning margin in the other game decided without a shootout.

The home side continued its winning run with the victory, while the visitors finished the night with a loss. The result extended a sequence of wins in successive games, with the home team's leading scorer in this match contributing more than once.

Lucas Raymond scored the only goal of the shootout as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Edmonton Oilers 4-3 at Rogers Place on Oct. 26. The attendance was 17,043.

A shootout settles a tied game through individual attempts against the opposing goalkeeper. Raymond also supplied two assists during regulation before scoring the deciding shootout goal.

His contributions therefore came during regulation as well as in the attempts that settled the result. After helping teammates score during the game, he scored himself in the shootout, where no other player converted an attempt against the opposing goalkeeper.

Detroit finished the game with a 5-4-3 record, while Edmonton stood at 8-2-2. The Oilers were the only home team among the three to finish within one goal of their opponents.
