Kramatorsk City Military Administration head Oleksandr Honcharenko said a Russian airstrike on Oct. 31 destroyed the Kramatorsk City Council executive committee building, a structure he linked to the city’s 2014 history.

The building stands on Peace Square in central Kramatorsk. Interfax-Ukraine described a photo Honcharenko posted as showing flames and partial structural damage; the reports did not establish whether the entire building was lost.

Honcharenko said the building had endured the 2014 occupation, attacks and the city’s liberation. He described it as representing Kramatorsk’s history, machine-building, city life and plans for the future. In an English translation of his post, he wrote that the attack could not take away “our right to a future.”

Interfax-Ukraine said no casualty figure had been provided for the building strike. Separately, the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office reported five injuries after an FPV drone struck a roadway while a vehicle was passing on Oct. 31.

The National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) says Ukrainian forces retook Kramatorsk on July 5, 2014, after the city spent nearly three months under occupation.
