The Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) President and CEO Frank La Salla said tokenization could free billions in liquidity as subsidiary The Depository Trust Company (DTC) began operating its service Oct. 28.

The conversation between La Salla and Chainlink co-founder Sergey Nazarov at Link:NYC turned to tokenization and collateral management. Chainlink’s event recap says he described liquidity as trapped within the current financial structure.

DTC’s approved pool spans selected Russell 1000 constituents, major-index ETFs and U.S. Treasuries. Initial availability will depend on which approved securities DTC participants seek to use.

DTCC says the service is intended to help investors move assets more efficiently and mobilize collateral. The corporation handles securities clearing and settlement in U.S. markets.

DTCC plans to add blockchain networks in 2027 and has targeted the first half of that year for making DTC-held assets available on Stellar. EconoTimes previously covered DTC’s eligible assets and expected network connections.
