France’s National Rally was in the second day of its Orléans congress Sunday, with Marine Le Pen expected to launch her 2027 presidential campaign, France 24 reported.
The congress remained in session on its second day, as Jordan Bardella was being re-elected as party leader, France 24 reported.
Orléans was the site of a large counterdemonstration opposing the far right on Saturday, France 24 reported.
After the Oct. 17 demonstrations, Le Pen cited the violence as a failure of President Emmanuel Macron’s government, EconoTimes reported in its earlier coverage of her public-order message. In a Financial Times interview, she said she would seek to limit France’s annual net payment to the European Union budget to €5 billion if elected in 2027, according to EconoTimes’ earlier report on the proposal. An earlier EconoTimes story, citing The Independent, described the April 2027 vote as Le Pen’s fourth presidential campaign.
