‘Lego Batman Movie’ producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller Tease New Film will be Full of Easter Eggs for Batman Fans

Will Arnett Will Voice Batman in the upcoming 'Lego Batman Movie'

‘Lego Batman Movie’ will be full of references from previous ‘Batman’ works including some material from the recent ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ film. Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller revealed that the animated film will contain numerous Easter eggs in the whole 90-minutes of run time.

According to Batman News, Lord and Miller offered an update on the Chris McKay’s animated standalone film for DC’s caped crusader saying that it will be a “90-minute” Easter egg. Miller teased, “Chris McKay, the director of the movie, is a real Batman aficionado and knows really arcane stuff that was only in one issue of the comic book in 1972, and that sort of thing.” He said, “So, it is chock full of stuff for Batman aficionados. It is just a 90-minute Easter egg.”

According to Cinema Blend, one of these Easter eggs may include a reference to Zack Snyder’s recent release in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’. Lord revealed that the film will cover much of the content in the original comic books and will cover some material from ‘Dawn of Justice’.

Snyder’s film received generally negative reviews from critics. Although it earned $872.66 million worldwide against a $250 million budget, it was deemed a box office failure since it failed to fulfill Warner Bros.’ financial expectations.

McKay’s upcoming action-comedy animated film will not only feature Batman, but will also include many of his Justice League companions. It will feature appearances from several DC comic book characters including Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg, Green Lantern, and also Green Arrow.

Will Arnett will voice the titular Batman while Michael Cera, Rosario Dawson, and Zach Galifianakis will voice Robin, Batgirl, and Joker, respectively. The film’s screenplay is penned by Seth Grahame-Smith.

Lord and Miller are producing the film together with Roy Lee and Dan Lin with Ryan Halprin co-producing. Will Allegra, Ryan Harris, John Powers Middleton, and Zareh Nalbandian are executive producing. It is produced under DC Entertainment, Warner Animation Group, Warner Bros., Vertigo Entertainment, Village Roadshow Pictures, and Animal Logic.

‘Lego Batman Movie’ is an upcoming animated action-comedy film scheduled to premiere in the Unites States on February 10, 2017.
