Legoland Korea will officially open in Chuncheon on Children's Day, May 5, becoming the 10th Legoland in the world and the first global theme park in South Korea.
On Saturday, the Gangwon Provincial Government held a completion ceremony for the theme park.
The theme park will conduct a trial run from April 1 to May 4 before officially opening on May 5.
The 280,000 square meter theme park offers over 40 rides in seven zones with different Lego themes. The resort also features 150 Lego-deigned rooms and suites.
Legoland first opened its global Lego-themed amusement park in Denmark in 1968. The latest property opened in New York state last September,
Legoland Korea will charge entrance fees of 60,000 won for adults and 50,000 won for minors aged between six to 12 years of age.
Gangwon Province expects to generate over 9,000 jobs and attract 2 million annual visitors while earning 590 billion won from theme park visitors.
However, civic and labor groups have raised traffic congestion concerns that would limit the number of potential visitors, and cause nearly 90 percent of the jobs created to be irregular.
Other groups also protested the theme park's opening before and during the ceremony, saying that the natural environment and historical sites were destroyed during its construction.
Ancient artifacts were found on the site of Legoland on Joong Island and Bukhan River in 2014, temporarily halting the theme park's construction.
